Launching INFORM Somerset

In April 2011 we launched www.sine.org.uk/inform, the new online data hub about and for Somerset.

INFORM Somerset's user-friendly interface presents information in maps, charts and tables, which can either be viewed or be printed off and downloaded.

Currently you can view population and demographic information, NHS data on hospital admissions and mortality rates, Avon & Somerset Police crime statistics, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue fire statistics, Somerset County Council information on schools and social care, official Government figures on job seekers allowance claimants since January 2008 and some data on Council Tax and distances to local services.

More data and topics are being added all the time. INFORM Somerset also forms an important part of the JSNA, as the data repository supporting the report.

Community Profiles

‘Somerset Quilt’ is a summary document which highlights, in grid form, the relative strengths and weaknesses within the county, based on key measures representing the six aims of the Somerset Sustainable Community Strategy. We have also produced more detailed profiles which present a more holistic and descriptive picture of our communities and which make comparisons with regional and national averages.  These profiles focus on areas defined by a range of different geographies within Somerset, including the collection of the most deprived parts of Somerset, the areas served by district councils, Local Service Teams, the largest towns and some Sure Start Children’s Centres.

For an explanation of the measures, areas and terms used in these profiles, see the Community Profile page.
