The Health and Social Needs Analysis Group (HSNAG) was formed in 1998 with the aim of finding a more joined-up and comprehensive way of assessing health and social needs in Somerset.
The result has been a series of Health and Social Needs in Somerset Reports, of which the 2007 edition was published in the summer of 2008. The HSNAG Report provides a summary analysis of health and social need across the county, and identifies priority wards based on a locally developed deprivation index.
The report is based on a wide range of data collated from national and local sources including:
All of the data used for the report is also available in one single database, provided on a CD-rom, as part of an HSNAG ‘pack’. Containing over 300 data variables for every ward in Somerset, the database has proved to be a very useful information resource for people and organisations wishing to carry out their own data work, such as:
The Report can be downloaded in sections below. Alternatively, a hard copy can be ordered free of charge, which includes a copy of the data set on CD-rom. Training and demonstrations can also be given to help your group or staff to use the database most effectively.
