  • Population Estimates (People & Neighbourhoods)Based on the ONS Mid Year Population Estimates, this page gives information on Somerset Population Estimates including access to a selection of data tables containing the most recent estimates of population sizes and profiles within Somerset, together with information about population projections into the future.
  • Indices of Multiple Deprivation 2010 (People & Neighbourhoods)The English Indices of Deprivation are published every three years by the Department for Communities and Local Government. The data can be used to assess which parts of the county face particular challenges, down to very small geographical areas. The latest version uses 38 indicators, organised across several domains of deprivation, which can be combined to calculate the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD).
  • Place Survey (People & Neighbourhoods)The Place Survey is a survey that all districts in England have to carry out every two years. Here in Somerset, a consortium of local public service organisations appointed Bostock Marketing Group (BMG) to manage the 2008 Place Survey within the county. Between late September 2008 and December 2008, a questionnaire was sent to 17,500 Somerset households, 3,500 in each of the five district council areas. A total of 7,284 residents aged 18+ completed the survey, representing a healthy response rate of 42%.
